In the year 711 April 27th
Moorish commander & chief Tariq ibnZiyad united Moorish warriors across the African continent to conquer modern day Spain, Portugal & Occitanie (France). Moors have been traveling into Spain since the times of Pharaoh Taharqa of Nubia, so it was common knowledge that only 8 miles of water separate Africa from Spain. Upon arrival Tariq burned down his own ships so that retreat was never an option. The Moors would be victorious or die trying!
Tariq's famous "Breath of Perfumes" speech before battle inspired 7,000 Moors to defeat an army of 100,000 Germanic vandal visi-Goths. As a result of their victory Tariq's name became immortalized forever by renaming the geological separation between the African continent & the Iberian peninsula Jabal Tariq (جبل طارق) meaning "Mountain of Tariq" which was later corrupted into "Gibraltar" by the Spanish.
