In the year 711 April 27th Moorish commander & chief Tariq ibn Ziyad united Moorish warriors across the African continent to conquer modern-day Spain, Portugal & Occitanie (France).

Moors have been traveling into Spain since the times of Pharaoh Taharqa of Nubia so it was common knowledge that only 8 miles of water separate Africa from Spain. Upon arrival Tariq burned down his own ships, so that retreat was no longer an option.

The Moors would be victorious or die trying! Tariq's famous "Breath of Perfumes" speech before battle inspired 7,000 Moors to defeat an army of 100,000 Germanic Vandal Visi-Goths.

As a result of his victory, Tariq's name became immortalized by renaming the geological separation between the African continent & the Iberian Peninsula Jabal Tariq meaning "mountain of Tariq", which was later corrupted into "Gibraltar" by the Spanish.
